D1 - Graduate Training in Primate Neuroscience (GTPN)
Systems and behaviour-oriented neuroscience research with non-human primates generates important results both in the biomedical domain (Neurology, Psychiatry, Neuroprosthetics, etc.) and in research on the neuronal basics of complex behaviour (Psychology, Cognitive Neurosciences, Linguistics, etc.). Doctoral students working with non-human primates require not only an excellent education in neurobiology, as provided at many locations in Germany, but also specialized training for conducting research with non-human primates.
This and a critical mass of research institutions exist in Germany, in particular in Göttingen and Tübingen, but also in the Frankfurt/Marburg area.
We wish to extend this existing methodological potential to establish a graduate training program in primate neurobiology.
